- David C Smith, Director of Sales & Leasing, Raine & Horne Commercial Sunshine Coast, negotiated the deal after realising the potential of the vacant site.
After a three-year hunt, one of the Sunshine Coast’s most well-known watering holes is set to expand by opening a bigger flagship premises.
10 Toes Brewery will open The HUB North Buderim in early October, the former home of a locally owned IGA. The boutique brewery has signed a five-year lease with a five-year option.
Mr Rupert Hall, the Director of 10 Toes Brewery, has officially confirmed that the brewery's commitment to a long-term lease underscores its enduring commitment to the Buderim region. “We plan to be here for a longtime,” he said.
The current address of 10 Toes at Unit 4/127A Sugar Rd in Alexandra Headland will maintain its role as a nano-brewery even after the new location becomes operational. The Alexandra Headland setup will serve the loyal customer base in the local area and will additionally be employed for crafting innovative brews that 10 Toes in famous. 10 Toes, opened it doors in February 2016, distributes its beverages from Cairns in Northern Queensland, down through NSW, and extending into Victoria, and it employs a fulltime and part time staff of 30.
“We are not looking to expand our footprint with this expansion, just our density,” Mr Hall said.
Mr David C Smith, Director, Raine & Horne Commercial Sunshine Coast, proudly negotiated the significant milestone after discussions with 'The HUB' North Buderim owners, who were looking to find another supermarket, after the beloved independent IGA was forced to close due to the development of the Coles Buderim across the road.
“I saw the potential for a perfect match and seized the opportunity to put the site up to the local brewery,” Mr Smith said.
“After such an exhaustive search for a new site, it is a momentous occasion for the passionate team at 10 Toes Brewery Road as they reach a significant milestone.
“10 Toes Brewery has always been at the forefront of the national craft beer scene and Rupert Hall, founder of 10 Toes Brewery, saw the unique opportunity to fill a void in the community and the opportunity to create a vibrant and welcoming venue in Buderim.”
New premises set to impress
Armed with a strong dedication to connect with their local community and foster a sense of togetherness, Mr Smith said 10 Toes firmly believed that being just another brewery tucked away in an industrial estate was not an option for them, or for the community they served.
“The wait has been worth it, and they are beyond excited to share their story and bring something extraordinary to the Sunshine Coast at The HUB' North Buderim,” Mr Smith said.
In typical 10 Toes’ style, its new venue will be like no other and includes 1330 sqm ground floor and will feature a mix of seating and dining areas.
“There will also be an approximate 187 sqm, fully equipped private function room on the second level, complete with a fully wet bar and viewing deck overlooking a new production facility that can cater to live music,” Mr Hall confirmed.
“We have been on the hunt for a new premises for just over three years and moving to The Hub is just next step we needed to take to expand our production capacity.
“We were at our wits end after missing half a dozen venues for rent or sale and then I rang a few real estate principals and telling them what I needed and that I needed it quick.”
Mr Hall had a suspicion that the location might not have been publicly available. This is where David Smith's excellence shone. “He and came by the next day and said come and look at the IGA site. I did a secret shop and I realised it was the one.
“We didn’t want to go to another industrial estate and finding this location enables us to focus on the hospitality side of the business – we will have more bar and more customer interaction. It’s a big step up for us.”
