South Australian rural lifestyle market bounces back after late rain season

South Australia has witnessed unusual weather patterns this year, with rain arriving predominantly in June rather than the typical April downpours. According to Paul Clifford, Principal at Raine & Horne Rural South Australia, this seasonal shift has slowed activity in the state’s rural lifestyle markets.

“The delayed rainfall had a noticeable impact on confidence,” Paul explains. “Lower stock feed levels and reduced winter growth led to a drop in stock prices, which naturally slowed rural property markets.”

However, the recent rainfall has brought a renewed sense of optimism. “Now that the rain has come, we’re seeing stock prices start to rise again, and there’s been a noticeable increase in enquiries for rural properties,” Paul says.

While the rural lifestyle market has been somewhat subdued, there’s a silver lining. Paul notes a growing interest from Adelaide professionals seeking second homes or weekend retreats, particularly as more high-quality properties in the Fleurieu Peninsula are becoming available. This uptick in interest suggests a positive shift in the market as the season progresses.
