Simon Winter

Simon is the principal of Raine & Horne Business Sales and has over 25 years’ experience in selling businesses. He has sold over 350 businesses throughout South Australia and the Northern Territory.

Before working as a business broker, Simon owned his own business in the office products industry. Over 20 years, Simon developed the business from a staff of two to over 130 and achieved a turnover in excess of $16 million before selling the business. Simon knows first-hand the highs and lows of small business, and also understands the opportunities, challenges and rewards that flow from owning a small business.

As a Certified Practising Valuer (Business) and member of the Australian Property Institute, Simon brings an additional dimension to our team, specialising in going concern business valuations. Since 2001, Simon has completed many hundreds of valuations of all types: including valuations admissible as evidence in court; security valuations (for banks); valuations to assist in dispute resolution, family court matters and partnership buyouts; and simple valuations to advise purchasers on a fair market value.

Simon is often called on to provide valuations of shares in private companies, as well as valuing units in operating trusts. He has developed a database of over 700 business sales that provide a unique source of comparable sales that are critical to understanding any form of business valuation.

Simon is qualified as a Certified Practising Accountant, is a Member of the Australian Institute of Accountants and holds an Economics Degree, a Post Graduate Diploma (Property) and a Masters Degree in Business.

A member of the Real Estate Institute of South Australia, Simon was awarded their prestigious South Australian Business Broker of the Year in 2005, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and again in 2017 and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in both 2014 & 2017. Simon also won the Real Estate Institute of Australia's Business Broker of the Year in 2013, 2015 and 2016.
