This strategic move follows the successful acquisition of an established independent firm in Denmark by experienced principals John and Julie Hetherington. Mr and Mrs Hetherington jointly own Raine & Horne Great Southern, which operates additional offices in Albany and Kojonup.

According to Mrs Hetherington, the decision to expand Raine & Horne Great Southern into Denmark was influenced by the regional town’s booming real estate market, the proximity to the regional hub of Albany, and other real estate firms moving out of town.

“We saw a tremendous opportunity in Denmark, not only because of the market dynamics but also the chance to be deeply embedded in the community,” Mrs Hetherington said. 

Strong local expertise propels Raine & Horne Great Southern’s expansion into Denmark

The expansion into Denmark brings two well-entrenched real estate professionals into the Raine & Horne Great Southern team. 

Denmark local Jane Hockley, with a successful 25-year career in real estate, joins from an Albany-based competitor, bringing her wealth of experience in the region and a robust history of success. Brett Lukey, a renowned figure in Denmark’s real estate landscape since 2009, is also an essential team member with over 40 years of local sales and property management expertise.

These include 61 Beaufortia Gardens, Denmark, which has changed hands for $1.1 million[i], and a quaint timber home at 16 Dunskey Place, Denmark, that sold for $500,000[ii]. The team also sold a neat-as-a-pin 3x1 north-facing home at 1/28 Rockford Street, Denmark, for $450,000[iii] and a three-bedroom house at 134 Minsterly Road, Ocean Beach, for $650,000[iv].

“In particular, Brett is on fire right now. He is listing and selling like it’s going out of fashion,” Mrs Hetherington said. 

Regarding the local real estate market, Mrs Hetherington remarked, “We’re seeing many people moving here from Perth because Denmark has a vibe reminiscent of the Margaret River.

“There are lovely wineries and restaurants, and people are selling up in Perth and shifting here for a lifestyle change.
